Did you know that one of the many benefits of healthy trees is energy savings? Trees on the sides of a house will reduce the summer electric bill. Now imagine a street lined with trees. If each house reduces its electric bill, that is a nice chunk of savings for the electric company. Additionally, an abundant amount of trees will also reduce heat. Providing all that shade creates natural air conditioning thus reducing the need for air conditioners jutting out of windows or igloo-ing homes. Many communities and businesses are catching onto this and encouraging people to strategically plant trees in an effort to save energy. One such business is the Atlantic City Electric in Jersey. They are offering 2,000 free trees to customers!
In the article, “Atlantic City Electric offering customers free trees to conserve energy, reduce energy bills,” South Jersey Times reports, “An online tool helps customers estimate the annual energy savings that will result from planting trees in the most strategic location near their homes or businesses.” They can reserve up to two trees. The only requirement, of course, is that the person must plant the trees in the locations suggested by the online tool. Sounds like a good deal, doesn’t it? Not only will you be receiving up to two free trees, you will also be helping the environment. It is certainly a win-win situation. The more trees, the better.
If you are in the Jersey area, be sure to reserve your tree today and if you have any questions about bare root trees or trees in general, contact Cold Stream Farm.
