Why You Should Be Landscaping Your Property in the Fall Season

Many people don’t realize the importance of landscaping year-round. The Fall season is especially important for you to tidy-up your property before the colder winter months set in. The Fall is a good time to clean-up the yard, plant trees and shrubs, and prune. When winter sets in, you don’t want to be going outside to do any yard work, so it’s beneficial for you to get it done before. You will be thankful you did when Spring rolls around, and you don’t have more work on your plate.

Cleaning Up Your Yard

As we get into the Fall season, you’ll start to notice leaves falling from your trees as the nights get cooler in temperature. It’s important to rake these leaves up and bag them for later use. You have the option of leaving them out for pick-up, or you can use leaves as mulch for gardens later next season once they dry-up. As you clean further, you should be weeding your flower beds as well. A fall clean-up is crucial for the health of your yard.

Planting Shrubs and Trees

You’d be surprised to know that Fall is actually a great time to plant trees and shrubs. In the winter season, trees and shrubs go dormant, so this time of the year is perfect for planting due to the fact they will have far less stress on their growth. They will also be prepared for any drought that comes during the next summer season, and they will already have a head start on the growth process in the Spring.

Pruning

Fall pruning is beneficial for your trees and shrubs. You’ll want to get rid of the dead ends and overgrown branches before the winter season. Also, consider cleaning up some overgrown branches on some of the trees closer to your home. Winter storms can sometimes be dangerous, and you never want to put your home in harms way with tree branches.
